The markings on the inside band are 10k P and with (a star symbol) after the P. There are 2 small diamonds on the sides. Im looking to find any info….. about the designer/value/yr….. or where I can find info. I dont want an aswer saying “GO TO A JEWELER OR APPRAISAL” because I dont want to leave (blizzard coming)

Spring is here and it’s a time when the grass on our lawn just seems a little greener. In order to maximize the coming of spring, here are a few lawn care tips:
- The sight of new grass growing often leads the homeowner to run out and spread fertilizer to help the young blades along. This is actually the opposite of recommended practices for fescue and bluegrass lawns. The proper time to apply fertilizer is in the fall, when the roots that will sustain the plants through the following summer are actively growing. Even if the fall feeding was missed, any spring feeding should be limited to a light feeding (1/2 pound of actual nitrogen, i.e., 5 pounds of 10-10-10, per 1000 sq. ft.) after the initial flush of growth has subsided, probably sometime in May or early June.
- When spring comes, then should the lime. But this should only be done if the soil deems it necessary. Most lawn grasses grow best at a pH level of 6.0 to 7.0, so have it’s good to occasionally have your soil’s pH analyzed every two to three years to be sure you are staying in that range. Horticultural experts always say that the soil test result should include recommendations on how much lime to apply on your lawn soil.
- Horticultural studies have also proven that seed sowing efforts will have a good chance of getting optimum results during spring as long as your lawn is well watered and cared for with the right amount of fertilizer. It is a good idea apply fertilizer on newly seeded grass using a high phosphorous fertilizer (for example, 25 pounds of 5-10-5 per 1000 square feet when patch seeding) which will foster root growth. The grass will be stronger and healthier if you can water daily until the plants are established. Water approximately once a week throughout the summer, for the tops of the grass may look great, but the roots are not as long and dense as those of the grass in an established lawn.
- Avoid cutting too short when your lawn requires its first cut. Mow to about two inches during the spring, then, raise the cutting height another half inch when summer arrives. Mow frequently so that no more than one third of the grass blade is removed at one time.
- Now, when it comes to herbicides and pesticides, it is recommended that you apply pre-emergent herbicides between the middle of March and the middle of April to control crabgrass and the emergence of bull worms. Crabgrass generally emerges about the time of dogwood bloom, and the pre-emergent herbicides used to control it will not affect crabgrass that is already up and growing. The pesticide will stop the spread of more bull worms. March is still a little early for dethatching and actual pesticide application, so after taking care of the few necessary lawn chores for early spring, you can relax and save your energy for summer mowing.
- Trees and shrubs surrounding your lawn will also need extra attention. Make sure you apply some amount of fertilizer on surrounding trees and shrubs so as not to allow them to absorb the nutrients meant for your lawn.

Basically the ROI for installing solar on homes is a really long time period. The only way that this comes down is when you factor in the real estate value going up along side all the rebates and tax incentives.
I was told that “according to real estate appraisers”, for every $ 1 of electricity that you offset through solar, it will increase the value of you home by $ 20. How much truth is there to that statement? Where did this figure come from?

That makes sense to me.
For ex, at 10 cents/KWH solar has one value, but at 1 dollar /KWH i’d expect that same solar system to have a much greater value.
I don;t really know if a prospective buyer would look at it the same way though.

Yahoo Answers sent me an email telling me I had an answer to what I considered an important question. They then deleted the answer off of here! I do not understand what rules this answer breaks could someone please explain. I had deleted and had to retrieve the email. Then I was maxed out on my amount of questions for the day and had to wait till midnight to ask this. Meanwhile the person that was good enough to answer my question probably got negative points.

Trying to find how to find value of famous intaglio printing plate (matrix), please help.?
I own a old intaglio printing plate. This is on what I believe to be zinc, as I have read they are likely done on zinc or copper, this is silver in color. The plate on mounted on a wooden backing that would likely fit into the press. It is old. Not sure of actual age. Looking at reproduction print this has every detail engraved, down to blades of grass. It is a engraving of “American Homestead In Spring” etched under picture. “Published by Currier and Ives” etched under picture.”152 Nassau St. New York” etched under picture.And in fine print, best I can read with a magnifying glass “Entered according to Act of Congress AD 1869, by Currier & Ives, In the District Court of the United States, for the Southern District New York”. I am wondering how I would find a value of this and who or what type of collectors would be interested in this type of piece. I can find a ton of things on line with this particular print but none of the actual plates used to make the older ones of this print or any others.I can not find this type of plate on line for sale or view or anything. If you know a direction to go that would be great. Thanks you for reading my long winded question.

You need to contact a local appraiser. Do not contact a museum, because it is ethically immoral for a museum to appraise the object. Search for “fine art appraisals” or “appraiser” near your local area on the internet.
Once you have established the price, you may offer it to a museum as a donation. Or you can see if the museum will buy it–this is where the appraisal comes in. They will pay fair market value for the piece, nothing higher or lower. Museums that might be interested in such a piece would be a fine arts museum in your area or in New York (since that is where the plate originated from) or a history museum from the same area (New York, it may be possible that a history museum in your city might want it to). You can always contact your local museums to see if they could give you a list of museums whose specialty that is.
